Department of Dermatology, Hiroshima University is an international research and teaching centre accredited by GA2LEN (the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network) for UCARE (urticaria), ADCARE (atopic dermatitis) and ACARE (angioedema). We provide high-quality medical care for skin diseases, especially for allergic skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, intractable urticaria, and contact dermatitis. Our department, which is also a melanoma treatment centre, treats malignant melanoma and also performs surgery for other malignant skin tumours and severe burns. We also deal with a wide variety of severe and/or difficult-to-treat cutaneous disorders including infectious diseases, connective tissue diseases and cutaneous lymphomas. Our research laboratory is involved in cutting-edge research in the areas of atopic dermatitis, urticaria, skin perception and itching, and related areas.
